The primary purpose of the divider is to partition the high voltage between the dynodes of the PMT. In our case, the divider also serves as a socket allowing connection of the PMT to the front-end electronics without any interconnecting wires. The divider optimization is directly constrained by the wished linearity of the PMT.
The figures below represent the differential linearity curves with an iso-repartition (1:1:1...1:1:1) and a 2.5:2.5:1...1:2.5:2.5 repartition (the optimized repartition currently used), both at the nominal gain, as a function of the photoelectron yield.
