Tile Calorimeter: Radiation Tests

3-in-1 boards

• TID tests:
 
SRL= 2.54 Gy/10y
 
• Test 1 (1999): 4 sets of 3 to 5 boards irradiated
• total dose applied: 500 Gy for each set
• after irradiation, some components had to be changed.
• the last set of boards survived the total dose of 500 Gy with no problems
• accelerated ageing performed with no problems encountered

RTC= 2.54 * 3.5 * 1 * 4 = 35.6 Gy for CMOS components
      = 2.54 * 3.5 * 5 * 4 = 178 Gy for BiPol components

• NIEL tests:
 
SRL= 2.3 * 10**11  n/cm**2/10y
 
• Test 1 (1999): 3 sets of 2 boards irradiated
• total fluence applied: 4.5 * 10**12 u for 1 set, 5*10**12 for 1 set, and 10**13 for 1 set
• no problems observed


RTC= 2.3 * 10**11 * 5 * 1 * 4 = 4.6 * 10**12 u
